Walking Off Pluto - Excerpt

She lifts her hands and reaches for the stars. She longs for an alien to beam her up and take her across the galaxy to a new planet. Someplace cold, like Pluto, but with status in its solar system. A planet that is respected and admired, like Jupiter, so big and mighty. There she'll make friends with the aliens, who unlike humans, won't bother her about her feelings or encourage her to ever cry because tears are foreign to them. The aliens won't have hearts either. They'll be like the manikins at the mall. Pretty to look at but impossible to hurt.
